Text to 911

📱Text-to-911 – Now Available in Osage County and the Tulsa Metro Region📱

Exciting news! Text-to-911 services are now available in Osage County and the Tulsa metro region, including the cities of Bixby, Broken Arrow, Collinsville, Glenpool, Jenks, Owasso, Sand Springs, Sapulpa, Skiatook, and Tulsa. Tulsa County will also receive the service, and Rogers County will receive an upgrade to its existing Text-to-911 system.

This service allows citizens to text emergency messages to 9-1-1, providing an additional tool to reach 911 when calling is not feasible. Text-to-911 will be beneficial in various situations, including:

✔️ Access to 911 in situations where speaking out loud would compromise safety, such as domestic violence, home invasions, or active shootings.

✔️ Contact with the 911 call center in areas where a phone call is impossible due to cell coverage, but a text message might be able to be sent.

✔️ Direct access to 911 services for the deaf, hard of hearing, or speech-impaired members of our community.

Remember, voice calls to 9-1-1 are the most efficient way to reach emergency help, but Text-to-911 can be a crucial option in certain scenarios.

Thank you to all our area partners for joining for today’s announcement, and a special thanks to The Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges for providing a sign language interpreter.

Stay informed, stay safe, and remember that in emergencies, every second counts. #Textto911#SafetyFirst
