We are deeply moved to share a significant development that pays homage to our beloved Captain William “Willy” Hargraves, who tragically lost his life in a vehicle crash at the intersection of US Highway 60 and State Highway 18 on August 19, 2022. Captain Hargraves dedicated 24 years of exemplary service to the Osage County Sheriff’s Office, and his absence is felt profoundly by his family, colleagues, and the entire community.
In loving memory and recognition of his service, the state of Oklahoma introduced Senate Bill 191 during the 1st Session of the 59th Legislature (2023). This bill designates the intersection where Captain Hargraves was killed as the “Captain William ‘Willy’ Hargraves Memorial Intersection.”
We are honored to announce that on May 31, 2024, we held the official sign dedication ceremony. The signs bearing his name have now been placed at this location, serving as a lasting tribute to his extraordinary contributions and commitment.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Oklahoma Legislature, our community, and everyone who attended the ceremony for their support in honoring Captain Hargraves. Together, we continue to celebrate his legacy and uphold the values he stood for.
Please join us in remembering Captain Hargraves and honoring his memory. 💙🖤
