In 1989 Undersheriff Lou Ann Brown started in the position of Records Clerk and Secretary to the Chief of Police for the City of Skiatook, Oklahoma. In addition she maintained the Evidence Room and was a relief Communications Officer.
In July of 1998 she began serving with the Osage County Sheriff’s Office as a Communication’s Supervisor and later that year was promoted to the position of Field Deputy.
Another promotion in January 2002 made her an Investigator, with her primary responsibility being Domestic Violence. She then served as a Special Investigator, with her main focus being Domestic Violence, Sexual Assaults, Child Abuse, and Sex Crime Offender violations. LouAnn is also Project Director of the Alcohol Safety Awareness Program (A.S.A.P.) Grant awarded by the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office and represents the sheriff’s office with the Department of Human Services Multidisciplinary Team and the Sex Offender Containment Multidisciplinary Team.
Undersheriff Brown received her C.L.E.E.T. Certification in 1999; Criminal Investigation Academy, 2001; Basic Instructor Certification, 2002; Reserve Academy Coordinator; and at present has 500 advanced training hours. She is a Sterling Award Recipient for Oklahoma Women In Law Enforcement and a “You Make the Difference” Recipient from the Osage Nation.
LouAnn Brown was appointed Undersheriff on May 13, 2005, by Sheriff Ty Koch.
