All uncertified officers begin their careers as a Detention Officer where they obtain valuable experience and communications skills. After a probation period, officers become eligible to train to become state of Oklahoma Certified Police Officers (C.L.E.E.T Certified), and may then apply for other positions within the Sheriff's Office such as Transport Deputy, Civil Deputy, Environmental Deputy, Court House Deputy, Patrol Deputy, Sex Crimes Investigator and Criminal Investigator.

The following is required to become an employee of the Osage County Sheriff’s Office:

· Must be 18 years or older when applying for position in the Jail and 21 years or older for Deputy Sheriff positions.

· Must have a High School diploma or G.E.D.

· Meet Sheriff’s Office employment requirements. This includes (at a minimum) background investigation, oral board, psychological screening.

· Cannot have any felony or battery misdemeanor conviction.

· Deputy Sheriff Position need to be Oklahoma C.L.E.E.T. Certified or able to receive certification if you are from out of state or uncertified.

· Applicants must be flexible and able to work 8 or 10-hour work shifts.
